While the Chinese New Year or “Spring Festival” is China’s most important holiday, it is a festival that is celebrated in many other countries which are home to Chinese communities. This is certainly true in Laos where one can expect to experience these festivities as well. The next Chinese New Year will fall between 5th and 19th February 2019 and will herald the “Year of the Pig”.
Visitors planning to witness any festivities in Laos during this period can look to combine the trip with a Mekong River cruise in Luang Prabang offered by such cruise specialists as Mekong Kingdoms. Apart from Luang Prabang, Vientiane is another destination where one can observe festivities being carried out during the Chinese New Year; it is not uncommon to see fireworks during this time, while one can witness temple traditions and activities as well.
