The China-Laos Railway has achieved significant milestones, registering over 23 million passenger trips from 70 countries and regions, and transporting more than 27.8 million tons of goods covering 12 Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries, including Thailand and Vietnam, as of November 3, 2023, according to media reports.
Huang Yuequn, a Chinese businessman based in Xiamen, expressed his interest in investing in Laos, citing lower labour and land costs, as well as abundant hydropower resources. He emphasized the crucial factor for him is the current health and stability of China-Laos relations. Huang looks forward to enhanced access to transportation infrastructure in Laos and streamlined customs clearance processes, facilitating the seamless movement of China’s advanced management and technical personnel to Laos. This could also help with tourism making any hotel in Luang Prabang Laos the likes of Avani Luang Prabang more accessible.
