In a significant development for international tourism, China has officially lifted all its pre-entry COVID-19 testing requirements for tourists, effective 30th August 2023. This long-awaited decision marks a positive step forward in the nation’s efforts to revive its tourism industry and welcome travellers from around the world. While it will also help boost the country’s economy, this move is expected to streamline the travel process and encourage more visitors to explore China’s rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and diverse attractions.
It should be noted that while inbound tourism is slowly picking up, there has been a substantial boom in domestic tourism and air travel. Interestingly, destinations that were not visited as much have seen a rise in popularity including Xian; hotels in the city centre here near the historical City Wall like Grand Park Xian continue to be a popular choice for locals and tourists alike offering safe accommodation as well.
