Chinese New Year 2015 – Celebrating Chinese Traditions in Sri Lanka

In celebration of the Chinese New Year which fell on 19th February this year, Ranna 212 held special festivities offering Chinese guests a chance to enjoy some of the traditions of this popular annual event. Targeting a group arrival from China in the month of February, this hotel in Tangalle invited all Chinese guests staying at the property for Chinese New Year’s Eve celebrations on 18th February which included a lavish spread for dinner. Items included Chinese style dishes and cuisine as well as an area with special decorations to add to the festive cheer. Additionally certain rooms at Ranna 212 were decorated with such elements as a Chinese flag and special cakes were presented as well.

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the Chinese New Year 2015 is the year of the Goat, based according to symbols from the animal zodiac. Amongst the traditions typically related with this festival are family reunions, religious observances and preparation of traditional foods.
