A popular annual fixture, the Naracoorte Cup took place on 8th February 2015 and culminated what was part of a larger event known as Taste the Limestone Coast Festival. This well known Australian horseracing competition was hosted at the Naracoorte Racecourse and visitors planning to watch similar races or witness the excitement of next year’s event can easily find nearby Naracoorte accommodation such as Sundowner William Macintosh Naracoorte.
The day’s proceedings began with the Sue Murphy trained horse, Valentinian which was jockeyed by Clare Lindop emerging victorious in the Barrett Petroleum / Sabois Two-Years-Old & Over Maiden Plate. The main race event however, known as the MiniJumbuk Naracoorte Cup was won by Woakwine ridden by jokey Dom Tourneur who beat off challengers Bojani and Bredlign ridden by Emily Finnegan and Marc Munday respectively. Weekend events leading up to the Naracoorte Cup included a golf day, outdoor cinema and a food and wine festival.
