Thailand being home to a large concentration of people with Chinese ancestry, celebrates the Chinese New Year every year with much grandeur and with a variety of festivities. Over 14% of Thai population is believed to be of Chinese origin due to this, Thailand is known the world over as a nation with one of the largest overseas Chinese community population. The Chinese New Year is certainly one of the main celebrations in Thailand that brings the Chinese population of the country together.
This year too people celebrated the New Year with much interest and happiness. Lantern contests, processions with lion, dragon and acrobat dances, beauty pageants, and food fairs are some of the events that took place during the celebrations this year.
