Chingay Parade 2015 – The Mardi Gras of the East

Starting off as a traditional new year procession the Chingay Parade take to the streets annually with arrays of dancers, acrobats dragon dancers and other colourfully dressed performers. This year the parade was held on the 27th and 28th of February under the theme “We love Singapore”. Organized by the People’s Association along with the Singapore National Pugilistic Association the parade is a combination of awe-inspiring dance and pyrotechnic arts. Locals as well as foreigners were seen attending and enjoying this fun filled festival that originated in China. Travellers planning to visit Singapore next year could consider a stay at one of the Singapore 5 star hotels such as The Westin Singapore which lies in the vicinity of the route of the procession. The parade consisted of around 11,000 performers including 760 performers from abroad dressed in colourful costumes belonging to various institutions, schools and clubs.
