Cinnamon Grand wins JKH Chairman’s Award for Sustainability 2015 – Recognising Green Initiatives

In recognition for its efforts to increase sustainability and eco-friendly measures as well as reduce its carbon footprint, Cinnamon Grand Colombo was recently awarded the JKH Chairman’s Award for Sustainability 2015. One of the Colombo hotels that belong to the JKH (John Keells Holdings) Group of companies, this popular property was highlighted for its eco-initiatives that included the installation of a Building Management System at a cost of Rs.170 million. This new system is expected to save 9 million kWh in total along with a further savings of greenhouses gases amounting to 12,000 tonnes within a 3 year period. This was the second instance that the hotel has been awarded this title. The award which was presented at Cinnamon Grand’s Oak Room, was received by Panduka Wijeyawardena who is the Chief Engineer of the hotel.
