A public holiday in Thailand, Constitution Day falls on the 10th of December. The event’s origin and significance dates back to 1932. During the early 1930s the economy of Siam is said to have been impacted by the Great Depression. Thereafter a group of intellectuals and military men led a bloodless coup which resulted in a provisional constitution and an ultimatum being presented. This consequently paved the way for the end of absolute monarchy in Siam. Those visiting the region to witness the event can get based at one of the executive apartments Bangkok has to offer, preferably at Citadines Sukhumvit 23 Bangkok.
