Sri Lanka commenced an operation to gradually reopen its borders earlier on in the year. While the guidelines have been updated and revised in tandem with the ongoing situation, the basic requirement to show proof of a negative PCR test from the port of embarkation remains. Travelers who have been fully vaccinated, at least 14 days in advance of their trip, along with this negative PCR report, are free to travel within the country and will not be required to undergo further quarantine. In a bid to encourage more fully vaccinated tourists to visit, the on-arrival ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) counters at the Bandaranayake and Mattala international airports were reopened in October this year as well.
The multicultural and multi-faceted island of Sri Lanka has been attracting travelers and tourists for centuries on end. With incredible wildlife, cultural excursions, beautiful beaches, and verdant tropical rainforests, there is much to see and do on this little island. Travelers can check-in to one of the hotels in Negombo, Sri Lanka, including the likes of Amagi Aria, which is close to the airport to relax before their whirlwind adventure kicks off.
