Domestic Visitors Help Lead Queensland in Tourism

The sunshine state of Queensland has been brimming with local tourists as the COVID-19 pandemic halted the tourism sector in the country and gradually began to ease its restrictions. As locals began to flock into the state, an Ipswich hotel that usually welcomes foreign arrivals has witnessed a growth in the local ones. Therefore, lodgings like Oaks Ipswich Aspire Suites find domestic tourists splashing millions of dollars on their stays.

According to the data collected and shared with the public by Tourism Research Australia, the local tourists have contributed 18 billion dollars to the economy as their stays were longer and the spending was higher. Celebrating the relaxed COVID-19 restrictions, by the 21st of March 2022, an average spending a day in Queensland by a tourist amounted to 210 dollars, where the number of arrivals was 21 million as Queensland topped the tourism industry of Australia.
