Dubai’s Short-Term Rentals Grow in Popularity – New QR Code Initiative Also Launched

The real estate market in Dubai has seen a rise in popularity for short-term rentals; this was put in the spotlight on the Construction Week website on 24th June 2023 which also highlighted that the local legal framework has also adapted to the new demands. The Dubai Land Department has thus implemented regulations to do with aspects such as the issuance of permits and licences which help to ensure that tax requirements and safety standards are met.

As part of another initiative linked to the short-term rental market, holiday home operators in Dubai must now display a QR code at the main entrances; guests, visitors, and potential investors can scan the QR code to access information about the operator as well as contact details of the Department of Economy and Tourism. This scheme which was launched in May 2023 is expected to help improve confidence and transparency in this sector. It should be noted that while short-term rentals are providing a boost to the local tourism industry, conventional accommodation options such as Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai hotels continue to be popular choices; this includes properties like Avani Ibn Battuta Dubai Hotel which provide an ideal base for business and leisure alike.
