Easy Access to Tanzania for Travellers – Government to Also Engage with the Private Sector

With the reopening of its borders, Tanzania is offering easy access for tourists; fully vaccinated travellers need to only show their certificate of vaccination or the relevant QR code for verification on arrival. Those not vaccinated, partially vaccinated or not eligible for vaccination in their home country have different procedures to follow; they will have to present a negative result of a COVID-19 RT- PCR test or NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) certificate with the relevant QR code taken within 72 hours of embarkation; those without such a negative test result will have to submit to a Rapid Antigen Test on arrival at their own cost though this is not applicable for children aged 12 years or below.

In a further development, the government has pledged to work with the private sector to boost tourism in the country; this was brought to light by Dr. Philip Mpango, the nation’s Vice President who was speaking at the Swahili International Tourism Expo (S!TE) held from 21st to 23rd October 2022 in Dar-es-Salaam. He further revealed the government’s readiness to have proper fiscal and legal policies that would lead to effective tourism sector investment as well as help in renovating existing infrastructure too. Tourists have much to look forward to once more on holidays to Zanzibar; beach resort options including properties like The Residence Zanzibar give travellers a chance to experience the best of this destination along with safe accommodation.
