The 3rd of December saw some of the most progressive artists in the Sri Lankan music scene in Galle for Ecoustica, a one-off acoustic concert. Held in Karapitiya, music lovers based at resort hubs surrounding the southern capital whether it’s a hotel in Weligama the likes of We Escape and others flocked to Galle to witness the event. The concert featured the vocal talents of not only Indrachapa Liyanage and Kasun Kalhara but also composers turned singers Nadeeka Jayawardana and Nadeeka Guruge.
Organized by the Old Boys of Mahinda College, collectively known as the 2005 Group or Zero Five Mahindians the concert raised funds in aid of the school’s many development projects. Nadha provided the backing music for this successful fundraiser. The event’s acoustic lineup made Ecoustica stand out from similar concerts held in December with the power of strong vocal performances taking centre stage.
