Honouring faith, family, and generosity under the Maldivian skies.
In 2025, the Maldives observed public holidays for Eid al-Adha and Hajj Day from June 5 to June 9, marking a significant religious occasion. Known as the ‘Feast of Sacrifice,’ Eid al-Adha commemorates Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God, a story shared across Islamic, Jewish, and Christian traditions.
The festival, which lasts three days, involves the symbolic sacrifice of a cow or ram. Families divide the meat into thirds—one for themselves, one for friends and relatives, and one for those in need. Charity is central to the celebrations, with donations of food, money, and clothing to the less fortunate.
Visitors experienced the warmth of the celebrations while staying at properties like OBLU SELECT Lobigili, which is also a Maldives adults-only resort and a tranquil island retreat offering the perfect setting to reflect and rejoice during this special time in the Maldives.
