Eid al-Fitr also known as the Festival of Fast-Breaking, marks the end of Ramadan. Which is one of the five pillars of faith in the Islam which is sacred to Muslims, given it is during this month that the Holy Quran was first revealed to Prophet Mohammad.
However, the date of the festival depends on the sighting if the moon, there may be variations in the exact date that is celebrated around the world. The announcement of the exact dates for the celebration of Eid al -Fitr may happen quite close to the start of the year.
This year, the date is said to fall on the 15th of June a Friday, while Eid will not begin until Saturday 16th of June in Pakistan and India and may even not start until Sunday 17th June in some regions such as Mumbai. In the Maldives, many a Maldives resorts including the likes of Anantara Veli Maldives Resort will be hosting grand celebrations as well.
