Exceptions Added to Hotel Pre-Booking Requirement – Quarantine Exemptions

Several passenger categories have been exempted from the requirement of presenting pre-confirmed hotel reservations at all the airlines operating in the Sultanate of Oman. This was announced by the Civil Aviation Authority by issuing a circular on 22^nd February 2021. The Sultanate legislated its week-long hotel quarantine measure on the 15^th of February as a means of controlling the COVID-19 pandemic along with its other variants. The passengers are required to pay for the hotels themselves and check-in to hotels or Oman luxury resorts of their choices; for instance, at a property such as Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort before boarding their flight.

The categories that were exempted from the requirement include diplomats and their families, aircrew (subjected to the precautionary steps prescribed by the Ministry of Health), those aged 18 and less if travelling alone, those aged 60 and above, travellers with special health requirements, permit-holders for private institutional isolation centres, and sea crews moored in the territorial waters of Oman.
