Expanding Maldives Market Reach – New Ways to Level Up Tourism

On a mission to expand the tourism of Maldives, tourism minister Abdulla Mausoom announced his intentions to reach new markets. Ever since the Maldives lost its main source market – China – due to the pandemic, they have been reaching out to many other countries to create interest in foreigners seeking luxury travel experiences.

Today, Maldives is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, and luxury hotels and resort chains like Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas are experiencing an increase in the length of stay of many travellers. The government of Maldives is targeting 1.4-1.6 million arrivals in 2022 to surpass the records of 1.48 million in 2019. There is special attention to promoting cultural tourism, sports tourism, business events and conferences, and facilitating travel assistance to differently-abled people. With these effects coming into play, Maldives can expect its tourism to hit record highs in no time.
