Fast Lane Business Travel and Cross-Border Travel Initiated in Singapore

Following the implementation of fast lane business travel which began in June this year, Singapore also started cross-border travel with Malaysia last month. The move is a positive step as the country slowly opens up its borders which were closed due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The cross-border travel agreement between Singapore and Malaysia was initially for certain residents and business travellers.

The city continues to be a key corporate hub with visitors having the option of staying at hotels in Serangoon Road, Singapore which offer meeting venues and business facilities such as Park Hotel Farrer Park. The fast lane business travel programme initially begun with select destinations in China and featured strict protocols in place without the need for a mandatory quarantine period of 14 days. For the cross-border travel agreement with Malaysia, there were two schemes; these were the Periodic Commuting Arrangement and Reciprocal Green Lane option both with their own set of guidelines and protocols.
