Fire-walking Festival at Munnesvaram Temple

A festival that celebrated since ancient times, the fire walking festival takes place at the Temple of Munnesvaram in Chilaw. The festival which is usually celebrated in the month of August or September is a major event that celebrates God Shiva. Devotees dwelling across the isle visit the Hindu temple to worship Lord Shiva. After 13 days the glorious fire walking festival takes place where devotees walk across coal burning at 100 degrees.
