Businesses dealing in the tourism and hospitality sector in Queensland were badly affected by the spread of COVID 19. The government followed a strict and long lockdown policy to avoid the risks, and many businesses had to shut down due to this. Almost every hotel in Mackay the likes of Oaks Mackay Rivermarque Hotel also faced the same challenge but managed to pass through the challenging time thanks to the domestic travels that were allowed from time to time.
However, the Palaszczuk Government had recently decided to grant a support package of $47.75 to assist the impacted hospitality and travel businesses in the region. This is in addition to the $5000 Covid-19 business support grant that they announced earlier. The terms and conditions of this package have been already discussed with the business community, as per the latest reports.
