George Town Heritage Celebrations Next Month – Highlighting a Rich Heritage

An event that celebrates the city’s inclusion as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008, the annual George Town Heritage Celebrations is scheduled to take place next month in Penang. A core component of these celebrations is to give visitors a chance to experience the rich culture, traditions and heritage of George Town. The event will run from 6th to 8th July 2019 at various locations in George Town; it is just 2 km from Travelodge Georgetown and within easy reach for those staying at such a centrally located hotel in Penang Island.

This year’s theme is “Let’s Celebrate – Rituals and Festive Events” and visitors can expect to enjoy cultural performances and celebrations, games and workshops too. The Street Festival will be held on 6th July, while another highlight will be the site excursions to various venues; these include the Nattukottai Nagarathar Heritage Society, Kapitan Keling Mosque and Nam Hooi Wooi Koon.
