This month saw the inaugural Global Esports Games 2021 being launched in Singapore with over 100 participants spanning 40 nations playing in multi-title esports competitions. The event ran from 17th – 19th December 2021 at Resorts World Sentosa also home to attractions such as Universal Studios within easy reach for those based at a Singapore hotel on Beach Road; these include SG clean certified properties like PARKROYAL on Beach Road, Singapore.
The world finals were held at the event for games such as DOTA 2 by VALVE (PC) which featured an open category and an all-women category with four teams competing in a five-on-five format. There were also finals for the eFootball 2022 by Konami (PS5) and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition by Capcom (PS4) each featuring 32 individuals in a one-on-one format. Other highlights included the GEFcon_21 virtual convention (16 December 2021) and the GEFestival (18th -19th December) at Orchard Cineleisure that gave fans a chance to enjoy the action from the Global Esports Games 2021.
