Southern African nations are set to revolutionise travel, with the introduction of a Schengen-style visa scheme. Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe have committed to expanding their existing uni-visa program, allowing tourists to seamlessly explore these diverse countries. This groundbreaking initiative aims to boost tourism by simplifying travel processes and encouraging multi-country itineraries. The visa is expected to be valid for multiple entries within a specified period, enabling travellers to explore the region’s stunning, cross-country landscapes, rich wildlife and mesmerising cultural experiences with ease.
Destinations and attractions located along the borders would largely benefit from the scheme. For instance, hotels in Livingstone Zambia, such as Minor Hotels properties like Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara, have the opportunity to expand their reach along the Zambezi River, with excursions across the country’s natural border with Zimbabwe.
