Guiyang tops list of best-performing cities – China’s Southwest Catches Up

According to a Milken Institute economic study, Guiyang, the capital of China’s Guizhou Province is at the top of China’s best performing cities, surpassing even a couple of megacities on the coast. Thanks to the central government’s development efforts, the city features modern amenities, convenient transportation and world-class hospitality establishments such as the Anantara Guiyang Resort, along with business facilities such as offices and venues for corporate events and meeting in Guiyang. The Belt and Road Initiative was particularly helpful in directing more investment toward Guiyang, prompting economic growth.

Guiyang topped a list that consisted of 33 first and second tier cities as well as 232 third tier cities in China. The study evaluated the cities based on their job growth, wages and regional GDP, high value-added industrial employment proximity and foreign direct employment.
