Himmafushi to host Asian Surfing Championship in July – For the surfing enthusiasts

The Asian Surfing Championship is set to take place in Kaafu Atoll Himmafushi, Maldives, from July 8th to 17th. After a three-year hiatus, this championship will return to the surfing scene, with the previous event being held in Japan in 2018. Maldives’ representatives in the 2018 championship resulted in third and fourth-place finishes by Hussain Areef and Ismail Rasheed, respectively. Following the championship announcement, the Dhivehi Surf League adjusted its event calendar, bringing forward the Gaamaadhookolhu Competition in Himmafushi from July to June.

The league has already concluded the Kalhegalekodaa Competition in Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo, and the upcoming Muleekolhu Raalhugandu Competition will be held in Meemu Atoll Muli from May 3rd to 7th. Other league events include the Gaamaadhookolhu Competition in June, the Huraakolhu Raalhugandu Competition in July, and the Rannamaari Challenge in Malé City from July to November. Those interested in watching the championships or participating in them can consider accommodation options in the Kaafu Atoll such as The Residence Maldives and any other Maldives 5 star resorts for easy access to surf destinations.
