Hoi An Lantern Festival in December 2023 – The city is aglow!

Hoi An’s Lantern Festival is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful festivals to witness in Vietnam. This festival takes place on the 14th day of the lunar calendar and simply cannot be missed by visitors. The festival features a myriad of old-world games and music concerts, with the entire old quarter transforming into a pedestrian haven, devoid of bicycles and motorized vehicles until 10 pm.

This night holds special significance for the Vietnamese, who honour their ancestors by burning symbolic items such as counterfeit notes and paper. In front of each shop, tables laden with offerings, including fruits like bananas and mangoes, accompany ceremonial fires where symbolic items are respectfully burned. This year, the Hoi An Lantern Festival takes place on the 26th of December.
