Hong Kong Eases Up Their Travel and COVID-19 Restrictions
Although a designated Hong Kong hotel for quarantine is no longer a mandatory requirement for foreign travellers, the country still requires travellers to be under medical surveillance for three days, which is then followed by four self-monitoring days. As updated on Smart Traveller by the Australian Government on 20th October 2022, travellers will be restricted from entering places like restaurants and bars during the surveillance period, a limitation which has been imposed under the Vaccine Pass Scheme. However, the relaxed COVID-19 measures now allow restaurants to accommodate 12 people per table, which was limited to a mere 8 before easing restrictions, while banquets of a maximum of 240 guests can be hosted. These relaxed measures came to effect on 6th October 2022 as a step to encourage foreign travellers to visit the country.
