The vibrant coastal town of Hua Hin in Thailand recently splashed its way through the annual Songkran Festival, held from the 13th to the 15th of April 2024. This lively celebration, also known as the Thai New Year, saw both locals and tourists come together for fun-filled days which extended beyond this period. The festival kicked off with morning merit-making at local temples, where offerings were made to Buddhist monks to mark a fresh start for the year. These serene mornings give way to the main event – friendly water fights in the streets!
Venues like Queens Park and Phone King Petch Park remained amongst the key places where various celebrations took place; other highlights included a colourful Songkran parade and a foam party at Hua Hin Market Village that kept the little ones cool and entertained. Evenings brought the festivities to the beach, where games and activities added to the joyous atmosphere. April is an ideal time to visit this part of Thailand for stays at properties like Avani+ Hua Hin Resort; those based near the beach at such a Hua Hin villa resort are ideally placed to soak up some culture during local festivals as well as experience the region’s coastal beauty and rich history.
