Bangkok witnessed a vibrant celebration of Thai culture and traditions at the “Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2024” which unfolded from the 11th to the 15th of April. This year’s event held special significance as “Songkran in Thailand” was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2023. The celebration of the traditional Thai New Year, this festival is also renowned for its friendly water fights on the streets which both locals and tourists enjoyed this year as well.
Amongst the highlights of this five-day event was the “Maha Songkran Parade” which saw over 1,000 performers as well as 20 spectacular processions travelling along Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue to Sanam Luang.
