India-Maldives to Scrap Double Taxation on Airlines – Promoting Air Travel

In a move that should rescue the cost of airlines, India and Maldives have reached a joint agreement that will see the doing away of double taxation on airlines which fly between the two nations. According to recent media reports from India, the country’s union cabinet has given the go-ahead for the signing of such an agreement with the Maldives that will see an end to double taxation. This will mean that profits garnered from aircraft operation in international traffic will be taxed in only one nation. Providing more tax certainty for airline companies of Maldives and India, this new arrangement will see the taxing right being placed upon the nation which owns the enterprise. Indians travelling to Maldives luxury resorts have much to look forward to in this island nation that has a variety of topical getaways to choose from such as Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort.
