Indonesia recently unveiled a significant change in its visa policy, aimed at bolstering its tourism sector. The introduction of a five-year visa policy, effective from December 20, marks a departure from the traditional 30-day single-entry tourist visa.
Under this new policy, visitors are granted a maximum stay of 60 days per visit, facilitating multiple entries. This strategic move aligns with Indonesia’s ambitions to attract more global travellers, leveraging its status as the largest economy in Southeast Asia. Immigration Chief Silmy Karim emphasized that the extended duration and online application process, with the added convenience of credit card payments, are integral to the government’s comprehensive efforts to stimulate economic growth. By offering greater flexibility and ease of access, Indonesia is positioning itself as a more appealing destination for tourists worldwide, especially in hotspots like Bintan. Travel tips for your Indonesian adventure include plenty of hydration and staying at accommodation that fits your preferences, such as The Residence Bintan.
