Indonesia sets ambitious goal for sustainable tourism – Aiming for 14.3 million foreign tourists in 2024

In a significant stride towards sustainable tourism, Indonesia, under the leadership of Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, aims to welcome 14.3 million foreign tourists in 2024. This ambitious target aligns with the global surge in green tourism and reflects Indonesia’s commitment to responsible travel practices.

Minister Uno, addressing the Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference in Bali, underscored the imperative of collaborative efforts among stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of Indonesia’s tourism sector. He identified ecotourism, cultural tourism, and adventure tourism as pivotal trends for the industry’s future. These trends, he emphasized, cater to a diverse and environmentally conscious tourist demographic.

Of particular note is the emphasis on ecotourism, with initiatives promoting electric vehicle usage and green energy accommodations. These measures are anticipated to enhance the allure of Indonesia’s natural wonders while safeguarding its environmental integrity.
