Ipswich ‘Australia’s Smartest City’ – Building a Better Tomorrow

Nominated for the Intelligent Communities Smart 21 Awards and amongst 21 global finalists, the city of Ipswich also has bragging rights of being the “smartest city” in Australia. The awards is being organised by the international Intelligent Communities Forum (ICF) who focuses on 21st century social and economic development and job creation. Ipswich is the only city in Australia to be shortlisted on the list that features a wide cross-section of cities including Birmingham (UK), Eindhoven (Netherlands), Shanghai (China) and Chattanooga (USA). Among Ipswich’s accomplishments was the initiation of “Digital Enterprise” and “Digital Hub” programmes which will promote the city as a sustainable business centre. The final winner will be announced in June at the Building the Broadband Economy Summit hosted by ICF.
