Jakarta-Japan Matsuri Festival- Spectacular event highlighting Japanese culture

Strengthening the bond between Japanese and the Indonesian people the Jakarta- Japan Matsuri Festival was held at the Plaza Senayan from 15th to the 21st September. The event which is celebrated annually is a quite spectacular and colourful and highlights the Japanese culture and cuisines. The vendors on streets sold souvenirs and traditional food items such as takoyaki, a delicacy made of wheat flour and octopus, and a Japanese savoury pancake –okonomiyaki.

Travellers also had the opportunity to purchase kimonos, Japanese sandals and various other traditional products that were sold in street stalls. Many Anime-fans also took the time to dress up as their favourite anime and manga characters.
