Starting from July 1st, 2020, Jetstar Asia will begin launching direct flights from Singapore to Colombo, Sri Lanka – the first low-cost airline to do so. According to Jetstar Asia’s CEO, Bara Pasupathi, the decision was mainly influenced by Sri Lanka’s increasing popularity as a travel destination, being recognised as one of the best holiday getaways in the world. The plan is for the return service to operate four times a week, with timings scheduled to let as many travellers access the island of Sri Lanka as possible.
Sri Lanka’s Chairperson of Tourism, Kimarli Fernando, mentioned that the country was ready to welcome Jetstar Asia with open arms, expressing that this was a great opportunity for more travellers to experience all the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the island. As for those who do take this chance to visit Sri Lanka, there are plenty of accommodation options that are just an hour or less away from the Colombo Airport. For instance, if you’re looking for Kalutara hotels, consider options such as the Anantara Kalutara Resort.
