Kenya Offers Visa-free Entry for All Foreigners – Electronic Travel Authorisation Implemented

Kenya is welcoming visitors with open arms and has implemented a visa-free entry policy for all foreign nationals as of 1st January 2024. While travellers no longer need a visa to enter this destination, a new Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system has been established. Those planning a Kenyan escapade, whether for tourism or business purposes, can apply online through the official eTA platform (https://www.etakenya.go.ke/en); however, citizens of Kenya or any East African Community partner state are exempt from this requirement.

This travel authorisation which costs $30, allows stays for up to 90 days and while airline passengers are no longer burdened with paper forms, simplifying the arrival process, securing an eTA before boarding remains mandatory. The process is streamlined and takes approximately three business days to complete, but applying well before one’s trip is highly recommended. This innovative approach signifies the country’s commitment to enhancing tourism accessibility, paving the way for a surge in arrivals including those looking to enjoy luxury safaris in Africa. Kenya remains one of the most popular places for such wildlife adventures with the likes of SkySafari offering bespoke experiences at key national parks and accommodation at boutique camps and lodges.
