An annual race that offers competitors a chance to immerse themselves in the rich natural heritage of North Queensland, Australia, the Kuranda to Port Ultra Trail Race & Relay was held on 26th August 2018. Spanning 64 km, this point-to-point race commenced just off Kennedy Highway and took runners along the Black Mountain Road. The endpoint was at Port Douglas’ Four Mile Beach, five minutes from Oaks Lagoons and other such holiday apartments in Port Douglas.
This year marked the eighth edition of the Kuranda to Port Ultra Trail Race & Relay which featured three different races; participants could run in the 64 km main marathon or as part of a group relay which needed a minimum of two runners, while the Bump to Beach Race offered a shorter, 16 km course. Amongst the highlights was the fact that the route encompassed the Mowbray National Park which can be found within what is known as the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
