Kurumba, Maldives Celebrates International Women’s Day

As part of a celebration to mark International Women’s Day, Kurumba Maldives hosted a special event at its Thila restaurant on 8th March, 2015. The programme looked to highlight the achievement of women in a variety of fields be it social, political or economic. One of the leading luxury hotels Maldives has to offer, Kurumba Maldives provided the perfect platform to highlight the role of women under the theme “Make It Happen” which included the achievements made by women who worked here. Part of the event included the giving away of the inaugural Woman of the Year award which went to Rizu for her achievement of becoming the country’s first active boat captain. There were a total of 50 participants at the women’s day celebration, with attendees preparing a variety of dishes that represented their country of origin. Apart from a quiz, other elements of the programmer included a speech by Roz Freemond Attwoo, a spa consultant who spoke about women’s empowerment.
