Sri Lanka’s coast is usually the first stop for tourists looking for an escape from the city to sun kissed beaches and a host of relaxing boutique hotels in Sri Lanka, like the Mosvold Hotels, that line the shoreline. Negombo, a coastal town located a short drive from the international airport, is offering something a bit more unique with its annual Lantern Festival. The festival is organised by the Rotaract Club of Negombo, a social services club, with all profits going toward sponsoring operations and lenses for eye patients. The lantern festival takes place at Kadolkale Ground, Negombo on the 26th September. Apart from the lantern lighting, the festival will include a mini carnival with games, food and a DJ.
