Recounting the story and reaction of the public to one of Australia’s and the world’s most compelling tales, Letters to Lindy ended its stage run last month in Brisbane. Running from 1st to 4th August 2018, this play was hosted at the Powerhouse Theatre. Those planning to catch similar theatre performances at the venue in the coming months can consider staying at nearby Brisbane hotel apartments including the likes of Oaks Charlotte Towers.
Letters to Lindy is based on the tragic story of Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton, a mother who was accused of killing her child who claimed that the infant was taken by a dingo instead. What followed was a long drawn out legal battle and media circus with the public writing over 20,000 letters, some sympathetic others hurling abuse. Based on these letters as well as interviews with Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton, Letters to Lindy offered a startling insight into this story and the myriad responses of the public.
