Luang Prabang in Laos and Hoi An in Vietnam recently reaffirmed their commitment to help each other in areas such as tourism as well as preserving the cultural heritage of both these cities. This was put in the spotlight during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that took place on 17th October 2024 in the capital of Laos, Vientiane. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the chairpersons of the National Assembly of both Laos and Vietnam, and it marked a new chapter in relations between the two nations.
Tourism remains a key component of this cross-border corporation between both these cities which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with organised tours, cultural events and tourism promotions being some of the planned initiatives. The former capital of Laos, Luang Prabang continues to attract travellers from around the world looking to visit ancient temples and embark on a Mekong river cruise that provides a unique perspective of the area. Top cruise operators such as Mekong Kingdoms will thus benefit from this MOU as more travellers look to discover the history and natural beauty of Luang Prabang.
