Machida Tenmangu Antique Fair – A Look Back at Decades Past

The Machida Tenmangu Antique Fair was held in Tokyo, Japan at the Machida Tenmangu Shrine on April 1st, 2020. The fair lasted from 7am to 4pm with numerous vendors – up to 120 individual stalls – showcasing and selling an array of Japanese antiques, dresses, tableware, furniture, and décor among other things. The prevalence of classical antique designs and products harkened back to an earlier age and enveloped the marketplace in an inimitable sense of nostalgia.

The event saw a good amount of foot traffic, which included attendees that had come specifically for the event and others that chanced upon in it at the Tenmangu Shrine. The fair’s attendance was no doubt boosted by its proximity to several luxury serviced apartments in Tokyo, such as the Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo.
