Malaysia aims to resume leisure travel with neighbours 1Q2021

Cross Border Tourism to Begin

Tourism Malaysia announced in October that the country is in discussions to resume cross border travel by the first quarter of 2021. Speaking on a local TV programme, Musa Yusof the Director-General of Tourism Malaysia said that they are speaking to Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and Thailand about resuming travel between their respective borders.

Outbound travel agencies have begun preparing new packages for tourists who hope to take advantage of this opening in 2021. Beach resorts in Malaysia are also using the current situation to revamp their offers and upgrade their hygiene systems as they prepare to welcome the first influx of tourists and guests to the country. Resorts the likes of Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas could look forward to guests from the four countries Malaysia is in discussions with as well as the rest of the world as 2021 dawns.
