Malaysia Airlines is set to reconnect Kuala Lumpur with Kolkata after nearly two decades, starting 2nd December. This route will feature five weekly flights, operated by Boeing 737-800s, catering to surging travel demands. Previously attempted in 1998 and 2005, the airline’s renewed focus aligns with Malaysia’s visa-free entry policy for Indian tourists, allowing stays of up to 30 days. The policy has significantly boosted tourism, with an 80% increase in Indian visitors since 2023, according to industry insights.
Kolkata, a cultural hotspot in India, and Kuala Lumpur, celebrated for attractions like the Petronas Towers, are both sought-after destinations. This revival aims to strengthen travel ties between the two cities, offering travellers seamless access to iconic experiences and accommodations like Temple Tree Resort Langkawi — the ideal spot for those who seek a Langkawi boutique hotel.
