Recently, Malaysia Airports Holdings launched a RM 5 million fund to facilitate the promotion of Langkawi as an attractive tourist destination to the Langkawi International Tourism Promotional Fund. It was recorded that Langkawi International Airport had passenger traffic of 2.7 million in 2018, out of which 13 percent were International passengers, the airport also saw a growth of 20 percent in comparison to 2017.
Hotels in Langkawi Island, for instance, the well-known Berjaya Langkawi Resort aid in bringing the necessary tourism traffic this fund hopes to eventually bring about. Langkawi airport is the first of airports to fully benefit from the commercial reset, which includes introducing internationally established brands.
