A tourism master plan known as the Penang Tourism Master Plan which stretches across 10 years. The plan intends to use a four-prong strategy; rebranding, remarketing, repositioning and restructuring. Penang is said to be a key location for growth, in terms of tourism. One focus area of the plan is to help visitors increase the length of their stay.
The state minister states that any new Penang Hotel is welcome on the island as quality tourism is an important economic component. He also stated that besides increasing the receipts per visitor, increasing their length of stay is crucial, as properties such as Berjaya Hotels and Resorts give guests ultimate comfort.
