Malaysia Targets Over 16m Arrivals in 2003 – The Middle East Remains a Key Market

Malaysia is getting its tourism industry back on track following the reopening of its international borders and is targeting 16.1 million international tourists for 2023; this was put in the spotlight on the ZAWYA.com news website on 2nd May 2023 which further revealed that the government was expecting these arrivals to generate tourist receipts totalling around $11.19 billion. The country has seen a steady increase in travellers including those looking for coastal getaways at a resort in Pantai Cenang along Langkawi’s idyllic coastline. These include properties like Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa which offer guests the chance to once more enjoy the best this destination has to offer.

It is important to note that Malaysia has also identified the Middle East as a key source market for tourism and is focusing its promotional activities in that region. For example, from the 1st to the 4th of May this year, it took part in the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai which provided an ideal platform to promote the country’s special experiences. Additionally, Tourism Malaysia signed two Memorandum of Collaborations with Air Arabia and Saudia Airlines which will no doubt help to boost arrival figures as well.
