Malaysian company awarded US$57.5m project to build five airports – You are now free to move about the Country

US $57.5 million was awarded to Malaysia’s Gryphon Energy Corporation by the government to build 5 domestic airports in four atolls in Maldives. The regional airports to be built across the islands of Maldives; Faresmaathoda and Maavarulu in Gaaf Dhaal atoll, Kulhudhufushi in Haa Dhaal atoll, Nilandhoo in Faafu atoll and Funadhoo in Shaviyani atoll. Following the signing ceremony on Tuesday morning, Tourism Minister Moosa Zammer stated that the “regional airports will be needed when the expansion of the Velana International Airport to cater to more than seven million passengers a year is complete.”
