Malaysia’s Travel Ban for Certain Nations Lifted – Sri Lanka Included on the List

The travel ban imposed by Malaysia on certain countries was lifted in September this year and included the island nation of Sri Lanka. The ban which came into effect on 26th April 2021 to contain the spread of COVID-19 was also lifted for India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. This easing of restrictions applied to fully vaccinated travellers with long-stay passes or permanent resident status as well as for investors or businesspeople.

It should be noted that Sri Lanka itself opened its borders to all tourists from 1st October 2021 with fully vaccinated travellers enjoying fewer restrictions too. They no longer must take a PCR test on arrival or stay within a bio bubble for a certain period; however, they do need to show a negative result of a PCR test conducted within 72 hours of arrival. Such travellers can look forward to enjoying the very best of the island at coastal destinations like Pasikuda; hotels here right by the shore such as Amaya Beach also follow strict health and hygiene measures to ensure safe stays.
